Instants – 1. Spirits clash

Front cover

The page is in a 3:4 format. On top of the page there's the logo of the series: on the left a Medicine Wheel in silver, with the five colored gems of the american tradition, partly covered by the STRIX text, also metallic. A simple "vs" apparently hand-written separates the first symbol from a fiery text quoting "Enquire".
At the bottom of the page there's the episode title: I (representing the first cycle, the east one, in roman numerals) separated with a dot from 1 (representing the first number of native american numerology, the whole that still has to manifest). After a hyphen we find the real title: Spirits clash.

This is a temporary cover, used to avoid any spoiling during the episode creation. It represents the inside front cover.

Inside cover page

This panel, designed primarily for the print version, reproduces the text that the reader can also find on this page, with a short summary of the previous episodes.
It also reminds about the possibility of reading the story as if one were one of the characters, or in a linear fashion following the various instants.
At the bottom of the panel, the icons of the main characters present appear, indicating the first panel where the story begins as far as they know: Vydia (1), Nicholas (4), Alice (5), Tri (11), Sarah (19), Djevjàth (25), Gianluca (28), Alina (28). At the end of their instant, it will be indicated which panel to jump to, or that the story is currently finished for that character.

Inside front cover

The page show a portion of a circular gradient from a dim red (the east color for druidic celts) to a sun yellow (the east color for native americans).

Superimposed on the gradient background, we find a geometrical an elliptic silver badge in a 4:3 ratio. The badge has a golden symbol which should be a V-arrow but, due to the badge shape it is more similar to a scythe: it represents the reference direction of the character linked to the badge.
For the north we have a vertical line: it's a dot on the bottom side widening toward the top. When it reaches the other side, it turns clockwise, following the badge shape.

Within the badge, a golden stylized shape represents the Totemic Animal of the character to whom the badge belongs: a wolf's head.

Superimposed on the badge, and covering most of its details, a full figure of a boy in his twenties appear, in a yellow and deep purple armored spandex, with details resembling a wolf.

The whole image is the exact detail of the section, in the mosaic used by Enquire to map the possible S.T.R.I.X. members, corresponding to first row and third column (1,3).

In the first episode we followed the events related to Vydia Vayrava, an indian tantric priestess, Giovanni Paolo Simboli, the European responsible of Enquire®, and Nicholas McEerie, a Native American tourists guide..
Visions and casual events led Vydia to Rome, where she crossed, unknowingly, Giovanni Paolo Simboli, living in Rome and new mentor of Sarah Goodberry..
Thus, the story moves in instants, thare are connected in each adventure to at least three among the main characters.
Nicholas, conversely, has been appointed a shaman by Winter-Hawk and sent to Scotland.
You can either read each whole episode or follow the path of one among the main characters or antagonists: sometimes it is interesting to note as the point of view and events knowledge can be very different from global view.
To follow the latter option, you have to start from the first page in which the symbol of the chosen character appears, as indicated here below, and then follow any indication over its icon in the page where its instant ends, to avoid any intermediate page it doesn't know.

To ensure an acceptable level for production, I decided to use Artificial Intelligence for drawing, concentrating on screenplay.

Considering technological evolution, in future this might be a superfluous feature, but his page includes materials specifically developed for screen readers and other devices which might allow even a poor sight or blind person to "read the comic": a complete description of covers, scenes, dialogues, panels and even single vignettes is present.
