Another big difference between role play games and the other game is the final goal. Everyone thinks a game must have a start and an end and the end is reached when someone wins.
This is not true for a role play game, since nobody wins in a role play game. The game fulcrum is not to win, but to enjoy oneself and to socialize.
Usually an adventure has some kind of goal: protecting the city inhabitants from terrorists; retrieving an artifact; exploring some secret archive.
Tipically, this goal can be reached in a reasonable game time: standard is between four and eight hours.
This could require the players meet together one, two, or even three game sessions to reach their goal and to complete the adventure.
But the game does not end when an adventure ends. The same characters can go on in new adventures.
Such a series of adventures is defined campaign.
Remember, an adventure fulcrum is not to win, but to enjoy oneself while working toward a common goal. But the length of a particular adventure has not to impose an artificial limit to the game length.
The SvsE game will encompass enough adventures to keep a group of characters busy for years.
